Important Updates:

GSG is committed to making the University of Delaware a better place for all graduate students. We are disturbed by the recent visa revocations that have impacted UD students, and will support and advocate for international graduate students as best we can. For a current list of resources for international students, please check out our Resources page

Executive Orders and other Executive Branch actions, particularly those related to federal funding and attacks on diversity and inclusion, have continued to create confusion and anxiety among graduate students. We will share important updates as we hear them. You can find up-to-date information and guidance at UD’s Federal Actions Updates and the Research Office’s Navigating the Federal Transition webpage.

Senate Meetings and Events

The Senate is currently in recess until September. Once scheduled, Senate meetings will be populated on our calendar. Our calendar also lists events hosted by GSG, graduate student organizations (GSOs), and the University.

Committees

Committees are the backbone of GSG’s work. Each committee focuses on an area important to graduate student education and life or GSG’s internal functions. Committees are chaired by a Senator but any graduate student can work on a committee or a project. More information on work being done by committees and projects is available under the Get Involved tab.

Senators

Each graduate program has one Senator, who is elected in May. Senators serve as the representative and legislative body of GSG, forming the Graduate Student Government Senate.

Officers

Officers form the Executive side of GSG and are charged with overseeing operations.

The GSG consists of a Senate and an Executive Council. The Senate is a legislative body made up of representatives from each eligible graduate program at the University. It hosts various committees which organize events, explore issues facing graduate students, and propose legislation. The GSG Executive Council takes responsibility for organizing meetings and working with university administration to implement legislation passed by the Senate.

Every graduate student is represented in GSG by an elected senator from their academic program, and every graduate student is welcome to participate in all GSG meetings and events. In fact, every graduate student is already a member of GSG!

We encourage you to attend any of our meetings, get involved with planning or advocacy on one of GSG’s committees, or run for election as a senator, officer, or Graduate College Council representative.

UD Resources on the Federal Transition

We know that recent Executive Orders and other Executive Branch actions—particularly those related to federal funding and research activities, and attacks on diversity and immigration—have created confusion and anxiety among graduate students across the University. We will share updates as we hear them.
